2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Stock Height with 22×9 Niche Prodigy 5 & 275/40R22 Tires

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Wheel and Tire Setup

This 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S runs a square set of 22×9 Niche Prodigy 5 wheels finished in Gloss Black Dark Tinted Clear and wrapped in 275/40R22 tires at all four corners. The SUV remains at factory ride height on its original AMG air suspension, creating a cleaner and more understated wheel upgrade without changing the suspension.

The Prodigy 5 uses a five-spoke flow-formed design, and the dark tinted clear adds a smoked appearance over the gloss black finish. On the GLE 63 S, the large spoke openings also keep the massive AMG braking system visible rather than hiding it behind a heavily covered wheel face.

Factory vs New Specs

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S comes from the factory with a staggered wheel and tire package using 275/45R21 tires in front and substantially wider 315/40R21 tires in the rear. This build replaces that staggered configuration with a square 22×9 wheel and 275/40R22 tire package.

Factory Front Tire: 275/45R21, measuring approximately 30.7 inches tall.

Factory Rear Tire: 315/40R21, measuring approximately 30.9 inches tall.

New Wheel: 22×9 Niche Prodigy 5 at all four corners.

New Wheel Offset: +22mm.

New Tire: 275/40R22 at all four corners, measuring approximately 30.7 inches tall.

Wheel Diameter: Increases by one inch from the factory 21 inch package to 22 inches.

Front Wheel Width: The 9 inch Niche wheel is approximately one inch narrower than the factory 10 inch front wheel.

Rear Wheel Width: The 9 inch rear wheel is approximately two inches narrower than the factory 11 inch rear wheel.

Tire Diameter and Ride Height

The 275/40R22 measures approximately 30.7 inches in overall diameter. That is essentially the same diameter as the factory 275/45R21 front tire and only about 0.2 inch shorter than the factory 315/40R21 rear tire.

Because the rolling diameter remains so close to the original staggered setup, ride height and ground clearance remain effectively unchanged.

The small diameter difference also keeps speedometer and gearing changes minimal, which is especially important on a high-performance all-wheel-drive vehicle like the GLE 63 S.

Square vs Staggered Fitment

One of the biggest changes with this setup is the move from the factory staggered configuration to a square wheel and tire package.

The original GLE 63 S uses a 275mm tire in front and a much wider 315mm tire in the rear. This build uses 275/40R22 tires at all four corners, creating identical front and rear sizing.

The square setup makes front-to-rear tire rotation possible when permitted by the tire’s directional design, which can help promote more even tire wear.

The tradeoff is a narrower rear footprint than the original 315mm factory tire. That changes the factory staggered balance and should be considered when selecting tires for a 603 horsepower AMG SUV.

Offset and Wheel Position

The 22×9 Niche Prodigy 5 in the 5×112 application uses a +22mm offset. That is substantially less positive offset than the factory AMG wheels and moves the wheel toward the outside of the vehicle despite the Niche being narrower overall.

Compared with the factory front wheel, the new setup sits roughly half an inch farther toward the fender depending on the exact factory wheel configuration.

At the rear, the 9 inch wheel is two inches narrower than the original 11 inch wheel, which offsets much of the effect of the lower +22mm offset. The outside wheel position remains relatively close to the original rear stance instead of becoming excessively aggressive.

The result is a fuller front fitment and a controlled rear wheel position rather than the large amount of poke that might be expected from looking at the +22mm offset alone.

Fitment Notes

Suspension: This GLE 63 S remains at factory ride height with the original AMG air suspension and active chassis systems retained.

Tire Size: 275/40R22 is well suited to a 22×9 wheel and keeps overall diameter extremely close to the factory 21 inch tire package.

Rubbing: The square 275 tire keeps section width controlled compared with the original 315 rear tire. Full-lock steering, suspension compression and inner clearance should still be verified during installation because the +22mm wheel position differs substantially from factory.

Brake Clearance: The GLE 63 S uses a very large AMG braking package, so spoke and barrel clearance must always be confirmed when installing aftermarket wheels. The Prodigy 5 used on this build clears the factory brake system.

Hub Fitment: The Niche Prodigy 5 uses a larger 72.6mm center bore than the Mercedes hub, so the correct hub-centric rings should be used for proper centering.

Load Capacity: Wheel and tire load ratings should always be checked against the vehicle’s axle ratings and door placard before installation. This is especially important on a heavy high-performance SUV such as the GLE 63 S.

Ride and Drivability

The 275/40R22 keeps nearly the same overall diameter as the factory tire package while reducing sidewall height slightly because of the larger 22 inch wheel.

That gives the GLE 63 S a more immediate wheel and tire appearance without substantially changing gearing, speedometer accuracy or normal ride height.

The square setup also changes the vehicle’s tire balance compared with the original staggered configuration. With less rear tire width than the factory 315, the vehicle may feel slightly different under aggressive acceleration and cornering even though everyday driving remains very close to factory dimensions.

The GLE 63 S produces 603 horsepower from its AMG 4.0 liter V8 and sends power through the 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system, making proper tire quality, load rating and speed rating particularly important on this application.
