ABOUT RIVIAN R1T TIRES

The Rivian R1T requires tires capable of supporting a heavy electric pickup while managing instant torque, regenerative braking, cargo, towing and available off-road use. The correct replacement tire must match the vehicle’s size, load capacity, speed rating and intended use.

Rivian offered different factory tire packages for the first and second generations of the R1T. First-generation trucks were available with 20, 21 or 22-inch wheels. Second-generation trucks introduced a 20-inch all-season package, retained the 20-inch all-terrain option and added updated 22-inch Range, Sport and Super Sport configurations.

2025–2026 R1T

22-inch Range and Sport wheels

2025–2026 R1T

Quad with 22-inch Super Sport wheels

Most Rivian R1T factory configurations use the same tire size at all four positions. This allows front-to-rear rotation when permitted by the tire’s tread design.

The 22-inch Super Sport package is different because it uses wider rear tires and a higher-performance specification. These tires cannot be rotated from front to rear.

Do not order four matching 275/50R22 tires for an R1T equipped with the staggered Super Sport package. Confirm the wheel design, current front and rear tire sizes and tire-and-loading label before ordering.

Choosing the Right Rivian R1T Tires

The 20-inch All-Season package is generally the best option for R1T owners who primarily drive on pavement and prioritize ride comfort, range, wet traction and tread life.

The 20-inch All-Terrain package offers the greatest sidewall protection and off-road capability. Its approximately 34-inch tire diameter and aggressive tread are better suited to trails, construction areas and rough surfaces. The added tire weight and tread pattern may reduce range and increase road noise compared with a road-focused tire.

The first-generation 21-inch Road package was developed around range and efficiency. Replacement options in 275/55R21 are more limited than the 20 and 22-inch sizes, making availability an important consideration when choosing replacement tires.

The 22-inch Range and Sport packages provide quicker on-road response and a premium appearance. Their shorter sidewalls offer less protection against potholes and road hazards than the 20-inch packages.

Rivian R1T Load Capacity

Load capacity is essential when choosing R1T replacement tires. The tires must support the truck’s weight along with its passengers, cargo and trailer tongue weight.

Many factory applications use a load index of 115 or 116. Certain newer 22-inch applications use HL construction, which means High Load. An HL tire is designed to carry more weight at a given size and pressure than a conventional tire with the same dimensions.

Do not replace an HL tire with a lower-capacity tire solely because both sidewalls display 275/50R22. The replacement tire must meet or exceed the load and speed requirements printed on the vehicle’s tire-and-loading label.

Rivian R1T Tires for Towing

Towing places additional demands on the rear tires. Before towing, confirm that the tires have sufficient load capacity for the truck, passengers, cargo and trailer tongue weight.

Tire pressure should be checked when the tires are cold and adjusted according to Rivian’s recommendations. Do not rely on the maximum pressure printed on the tire sidewall as a normal driving recommendation.

A tire that has been temporarily repaired or has sustained sidewall damage should be inspected before the truck is used for towing.

Rivian Approved Tire Markings

Certain original-equipment Rivian tires may carry a RIV manufacturer marking, ELECT designation or vehicle-specific acoustic technology. These markings identify tires developed around Rivian requirements such as load capacity, efficiency, handling and noise.

A tire without the RIV marking may still be suitable if it meets the required size, construction, load index and speed rating. However, differences in tire weight, rolling resistance and tread design may affect range, road noise, steering response and ride quality.

Best Rivian R1T Tires for Miami Driving

For R1T owners who primarily drive on Miami roads, a highway-focused or touring all-season tire will generally provide the best balance of wet traction, ride comfort, range and tread life.

An all-terrain tire is more appropriate for owners who regularly travel off pavement, visit job sites or want additional tread and sidewall durability. It should not be selected solely for appearance because the heavier construction and aggressive tread can affect efficiency and road noise.

South Florida’s frequent heavy rain makes wet braking and hydroplaning resistance especially important. R1T owners who tow should also consider stability, heat resistance and load capacity when selecting replacement tires.

Professional Rivian R1T Tire Installation and Balancing

The Rivian R1T is a heavy, powerful electric pickup that is particularly sensitive to proper wheel and tire installation, balance and alignment. At Fitment Dynamics, we use advanced Hunter Road Force® Balancer equipment to help deliver the smooth, quiet and comfortable ride R1T owners expect.

The Hunter Road Force® Balancer applies pressure to the tire and wheel assembly to simulate real-world driving conditions. This process can identify tire and wheel variations that a standard balance may miss, allowing us to fine-tune your Rivian R1T tire setup and minimize unwanted vibration.

Factory tire equipment can vary by motor configuration, battery package, wheel selection and production date. Confirm the tire-and-loading label, current tire sizes and vehicle configuration before ordering replacement tires.
