ABOUT MERCEDES-BENZ eQS TIRES

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is a large electric luxury vehicle engineered around exceptional comfort, quiet operation and effortless performance. Because it weighs more than 6,000 pounds in many configurations, its tires must support substantial vehicle weight while maintaining the smooth and composed ride expected from a flagship Mercedes-Benz.

The EQS SUV was offered with both square and staggered factory tire configurations. A square setup uses the same size at all four positions, while a staggered setup uses wider rear tires. The exact configuration must be confirmed before ordering replacement tires.

Important Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Tire Requirements

High Load Capacity

The battery, luxury equipment and available third row contribute to the EQS SUV’s substantial weight. Replacement tires must provide enough load capacity for the specific vehicle configuration.

Do not select tires using the dimensions alone. The load index, speed rating and construction should meet or exceed the specification shown on the driver side tire information placard.

Mercedes-Benz Original Equipment Markings

Factory approved Mercedes-Benz tires may carry MO, MO1 or MOE markings on the sidewall. These markings identify tires developed or approved for a particular Mercedes-Benz application.

A tire without the appropriate Mercedes-Benz marking may physically fit, but its construction, rolling resistance, ride quality and noise characteristics may differ from the original equipment tire.

Extended Mobility Tires

Some EQS SUV configurations may be equipped with Extended Mobility tires. These are designed to provide limited mobility following certain losses of air pressure.

Before changing to a conventional tire, confirm the vehicle’s original mobility system and understand that puncture protection and driving characteristics may change.

Acoustic Tire Technology

Certain EQS SUV tires contain sound absorbing foam inside the tire to reduce road noise entering the cabin. This is especially noticeable in a quiet electric vehicle where there is no combustion engine noise to mask tire sound.

Replacing an acoustic original equipment tire with a standard tire may result in more noticeable road noise, even when the dimensions and load rating are correct.

Square Versus Staggered Fitment

EQS SUVs with a square configuration can normally have their tires rotated from front to rear.

Vehicles with wider rear tires cannot use a traditional front to rear rotation. If the tires are directional, side to side rotation may also be restricted. Correct alignment and inflation pressure are especially important for controlling wear on staggered configurations.

Matching Tires on 4MATIC Models

Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC systems perform best when all four tires have closely matched rolling diameters and tread depths. Mixing different tire models, constructions or significantly different tread depths can affect traction and vehicle behavior.

When replacing fewer than four tires, the remaining tread depth and rolling circumference should be evaluated carefully.

Choosing Between EQS SUV Wheel Sizes

The 20 inch setup provides the most sidewall and generally offers the greatest protection from potholes and damaged pavement.

The 21 inch configuration offers a balance of ride comfort, appearance and steering response. It is also the most common factory wheel diameter on newer EQS SUV models.

The 22 inch setup provides a more aggressive appearance and more direct steering response. Its shorter sidewall provides less cushioning against potholes, curbs and road debris. Correct inflation pressure is especially important with this configuration.

Choosing Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Tires for Miami Driving

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV owners in Miami should prioritize wet braking, hydroplaning resistance, low road noise and dependable warm weather performance. The combination of a heavy vehicle and frequent rain makes maintaining adequate tread depth especially important.

A premium touring tire is a strong choice for drivers who prioritize quiet operation, comfort and tread life. Range optimized tires can help preserve efficiency, while summer performance tires may provide sharper handling and stronger warm weather grip.

Summer tires are appropriate for Miami temperatures, but they still require sufficient tread depth to evacuate water during heavy rain.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is a heavy, powerful electric luxury SUV that is particularly sensitive to proper wheel and tire installation, balance, alignment, fitment and inflation pressure. At Fitment Dynamics, we use advanced Hunter Road Force® balancing equipment to help deliver the smooth, quiet and comfortable ride EQS SUV owners expect.

Always verify the tire size, load index, speed rating, Mercedes-Benz approval marking and recommended inflation pressure using the tire information placard inside the driver’s door. Factory equipment can vary based on model year, trim, wheel package and production configuration.
